DESCRIPTION: Worldwide
wildlife conservation expeditions. The projects are not tours, photographic
safaris or excursions, but genuine expeditions with real conservation content.
Adventure, remote locations, different cultures and people are part and
parcel of these expeditions, but also the knowledge that you will have
played an active role in conserving part of our planet's biosphere.
SPECIES: Snow leopards, wolves,
bears, primates, rainforest birds, etc.
HABITAT: Rainforest, desert,
savannah, tropical coasts, seas, etc.
GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: Worldwide.
TRAVEL INFORMATION: Volunteers
are met at the airport and taken to the project area.
DURATION: Min. 2 weeks up to
3 months.
PERIOD: Year round.
AGE: No age restrictions. Minors
with parents' consent.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: No
specific skills required, only a reasonable level of fitness.
VOLUNTEERS WORK: Expect to work
(e.g., surveying, tracking, identification) for several hours a day, often
independently. All necessary training is given and a Biosphere Expedition
leader is always present.
LANGUAGE: English. German is
also spoken
ACCOMMODATION: Basic, in huts
or tents depending on the climate and location.
COST: Variable and depending
on project. Expedition contributions start from GB£ 900 (EUR/US$
1,400) for 2 weeks, for longer periods discounts are available.
LONG TERM: Volunteers can join
an expedition for several months.
