1. Ecuadorian Reptile and Amphibian Research Expeditions

We offer opportunities for students and volunteers to work in the rain forests of Ecuador, focused on the Conservation Ecology of reptiles and amphibians. Participants receive training, guidance, and the experience to last a lifetime.

2. Intern Supervisor - Wildlife Rehabilitation - Connecticut USA

Seeking mature, experienced person to supervise resident interns and manage rehab facility.

3. Flat Holm Island, Bristol Channel, South Wales , UK

Flat Holm Island is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, Geological Conservation Review Site and Local Nature Reserve. Education, conservation and buildings management go hand in hand. Home to one of the largest Lesser Black Backed Gull colonies in Wales and home to the rare Wild Leek.

4. Leatherback Turtle Conservation in Costa Rica and Panama

Volunteers are needed at the Pacuare Reserve in Costa Rica and in Panama to help protect endangered Leatherback turtles. Volunteers assist with tagging, beach patrols, nest protection and monitoring of hatching success and all training is provided.

5. Turtle Project - Kefalonia, Greece

Local project for the conservation of the Loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) in Greece.
Main volunteer activities: nesting beach patrols, turtle monitoring, data collection, environmental education and awareness raising. Project runs during turtle nesting season (May to October).

6. Conservation Volunteering in St Lucia - Caribbean

An ideal project for conservationists and field biologists. Volunteers can join for a 3 months period, starting from February 2007. Work will be hard but rewarding and it is a great way to make a vital difference to species conservation.

7. Mediterranean Monk Seal Research Project - Turkey

The primary aims of this project are: a) to determine population size, preferred habitats, and the main threats; b)to increase awareness in the local people, fishermen and authorities;c)to organize educational programs for elementary and high schools;d)to elaborate proposals for mitigating conflicts between seals and local.

8. Munda Wanga Wildlife Park and Sanctuary, Zambia

Munda Wanga is a wildlife park and botanical garden. In the 1990s, the park and gardens left to decay. Many animals died in their cages. In 1998 the estate was taken on by a new Munda Wanga Trust. Eight years on and the wildlife park has been rehabilitated, the gardens reshaped and an environmental programme developed.

9. Cochrane Ecological Institute (CEI), Canada

CEI is an NGO devoted to the conservation of wildlife in Alberta, Canada, through captive breeding for reintroduction of endangered species, habitat inventories, educational programmes, wildlife rescue, rehabilitation and release.

10. The American Bear Association, Minnesota USA

This non-profit organisation is dedicated to promoting the well-being of the black bear, other wildlife and all natural resources through education and research. The Vince Shute Wildlife Sanctuary you can observe and photograph wild black bears.The VSWS features environmental education, conservation efforts, and wildlife co-existence.

11. Amigos de las Aves, Costa Rica

Amigos de las Aves is a Costa Rican non profit organization dedicated to the conservation of the two endangered species of macaws found in Costa Rica. Activity is concentrated on breeding and re-introduction into their native habitat at designated release sites. The Organisation also runs a refuge with various endemic birds.

12. Black Sheep Inn, Ecuador

A small Ecological Lodge in the Ecuadorian Sierra. It grows its organic vegetables, uses composting toilets, gray water systems and a recycling programme. Volunteers learn how low impact sustainable tourism works. A small reforestation programme is also carried out with native tree species.

13. California Wildlife Center, California USA

California Wildlife Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife. Since 1998 CWC has responded to over 10,000 wildlife emergencies in Los Angeles County for a variety of species: from raptors and songbirds to pelicans, sea lions, coyotes, deers.

14. Sea turtle protection in Anamur, Turkey

The nesting beach in Anamur (Turkey) is around 12 km long and with up to 1000 nests one of the most important nesting beach for the Loggerhead turtle in the Mediterranean. ACES undertakes a volunteer project, to protect the nesting beach during the nesting season.

15. Cano Palma Biological Research Station, Costa Rica

The station serves as a facility for visiting biologists and student groups interested in studying various aspects of neotropical lowland forest biology. The station also supports a volunteer programme.

16. Cape Tribulation Tropical Research Station, Australia

An independent field research station open to all researchers, funded through the Australian Tropical Research Foundation. Station staff conduct research on a wide range of issues, from radio-tracking bats, rainforest rehabilitation to weed control, alternative technology and the design of GPS animal tracking systems.

17. Andean bear Research Project, Ecuador

Through this project we radio-track Andean bears in the wild. The research is conducted as part of ongoing efforts to expand protected areas and prevent the extinction of the species. The primary purpose of this study is to determine the use of the habitat, activity patterns and size of home range and core area of the Andean bears.

18. Comunidad Inti Wara Yassi, Bolivia

A sanctuary that rescues and rehabilitates native wild animals taken from unsuitable captive environments. Aims of the project include: confiscation of animals from illegal markets; rehabilitation where possible; education and awareness to prevent illegal trading of wildlife.

19. Ecology and Conservation of Deer in Patagonia, Argentina

The project objectives are to estimate population density and determine the reproductive status, health condition, predation by puma and habitat use of red deer in southern Patagonia. Population surveys of endangered deer are conducted as well.

20. Black Grouses in the Alps, France

The population of Tetrao tetrix is decreasing year after year in the mountainous habitat of Vercors. Several reasons were identified : tourism, hunting (human disturbance), habitat destruction. The main objective is to restore the natural mountainous grassland.

21. CVA - Conservation Volunteers Australia / Conservation Volunteers New Zealand

Founded in 1982, CVA is a non-profit organisation dedicated to practical conservation. CVA’s activities concern environmental topics such as salinity, soil erosion, biodiversity and endangered species. CVA projects offer the opportunity to see parts of Australia, off the regular track, as well as to make international friendships.

22. Monte Adone Wildlife Protection Centre, Italy

A voluntary non-profit institution working in the rescue and rehabilitation of wild animals found injured. Emergency service is active 24hrs/day. The Centre also takes care of different exotic animals found abandoned or others that have been confiscated from Government authorities. Guided visits for schools and families available.

23. Penguin Research

A small number of volunteers are needed each year to conduct daily observations of penguin nests from November to February.

24. Rajasthan, India's Animal Aid hospital loving care for street animals

In a rustic rural setting just 4 km from beautiful Udaipur, Animal Aid's hospital is a haven of love and treatment for about 100 animals daily. Species range from dogs to donkeys, birds to bullocks. We believe that tender care can make the difference between life and death; that individual attention is as important as antibiotics.

25. Organic Cultivation - Scotland

Organic market garden (non-profit-making) with an emphasis on teaching young people to grow food while maintaining the earth in good heart. Wide variety of crops plus herd of goats.
