Amigos de las Aves is a Costa Rican non profit organization dedicated to the conservation of the two endangered species of macaws found in Costa Rica. Activity is concentrated on breeding and re-introduction into their native habitat at designated release sites. The Organisation also runs a refuge with various endemic birds.Species:
Scarlet macaw, Great Green macaw, 4 species of Amazon parrot, 2 of Toucan, 2 of Aracari, various small parakeetsHabitat:

No qualifications necessary - but ‘bird’ experience would be a help. Students in the field of biology preferably for ‘field’ work.Work:
Breeding Centre: feeding, aviary maintenance, perching, cleaning, making toys, playing with babies. In the field: working with biologist in our field research program.Language(s):
English, Spanish helpful in the field.Accommodation:
Homestays: shared facilites or private room and shower in a family home.Cost:
Breeding Centre: US$12-15 per day for accommodation, 3 meals and laundry. In the field: basic facilities and meals.Application:
