Green Volunteers is a
directory of wildlife conservation projects and organisations throughout
the world. It gives readers opportunities to get involved with a wide
range of nature conservation work.
Green Volunteers lists projects and organisations across a wide range of species,
habitats and locations. There are large international organizations with many
projects throughout the world and smaller organizations in developing
countries, often unknown to the general public, focusing on particular
species or habitats. The book also lists national agencies such as the US
National Park Service, or international organizations such as United
Nations Volunteers.
Projects' work ranges from sea turtles in Costa Rica, Mexico
to
whales and dolphins in the Mediterranean
or seals in Turkey, from wolves in Easter Europe or the United States to rhinos or
cheetas in Africa, or to biodiversity surveys in the Galapagos Archipelago.
There are projects in every continent, encompassing diverse habitats and
species, both terrestrial and marine, in national parks or small villages,
that take volunteers from various background,
often with no previous experience required. Opportunities are available
year round.
The guide provides you with all the necessary information for
joining a project such as: e-mail and web addresses, accommodation, travel
information and medical requirements. It also describes the work involved, species and habitats, season and
duration, plus any qualifications required. Specially compiled indexes help
you to quickly identify projects according to species, habitat, location
and cost.
