DESCRIPTION:  The aims of HWRT are to rescue, repair, rehabilitate and  release all native species of wild birds and mammals. Help is needed with  hand rearing, cleaning and feeding, maintenance and construction work. We  are also keen to monitor the casualties after release. Some groups of birds will be ringed, and hopefully some species will be radio-tracked.

SPECIES: All Scottish wild birds and mammals.

HABITAT:  Species rescued from urban, woodland, farmland, coast and moorland. 

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION:  West Central Scotland. 

TRAVEL INFORMATION:  The Centre is within easy travelling distance from Glasgow. 

DURATION: Min. 2-3 weeks. 

PERIOD:  March - October. 

AGE:  Min. 18, no upper age limit.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:  Ability to work as part of a team. Training will be given. Experience of radio tracking could be useful.Veterinary experience useful. 

VOLUNTEERS' WORK:  Volunteers may help with all aspects of the Trust’s work. This includes rescue, treatment, feeding, cleaning, preparing birds and animals for release and post-release monitoring. Educational work with the public may be possible. 

LANGUAGE:  English. 

ACCOMMODATION:  Caravans. 

COST: Caravans are free. Food must be provided by the volunteer. Volunteers must arrange their own transport, though can be collected from Glasgow. 

LONG-TERM: Suitable volunteers may be able to stay for 6 months.
